- Kayugira who runs a barber shop says that he was also robbed and the robbers made away with everything
A section of Kibera residents is now appealing to Kenya Power to restore power in the area following a three day blackout.
The residents who live in Makina Ward say that the power blackout has caused a sharp rise in insecurity in the area.
Gasyvith Kayugira a resident of the area says that a number of residents have been robbed along the railway line when going back home from work.
Kayugira who runs a barber shop says that he was also robbed and the robbers made away with everything.
“We are calling on Kenya Power to fix power blackout that we are experiencing. As we are speaking now ten of people were robbed near the railway line while they were going back to their houses.”
“My barbershop was robbed and they took everything, M-pesa shop was not spared either, even my neighbor who operates a salon was robbed,” he said.
According to the residents even businesses selling perishable goods have also suffered massive losses due to the blackout.
“Some business men and women are counting losses after their items in the fridge went bad. Others who use power have has to lay down their tools. And some of us have not watched news and with this kind of Government we have to watch news so that we may know which item have they increased the price,” he concluded.
They are now calling for Kenya power to fix the mess to avert further losses.
