Former Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has expressed concern and anger over the recent killings of men in Mpeketoni Lamu County by Al Shabaab group.
According to Ngunjiri the group is deliberately targeting men from one tribe and brutally slaughtering them.
In a video plea on social media, he called upon security agencies including Defence cabinet secretary Aden Duale and Interior cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki to quickly intervene.

The former MP, was seen shedding tears as he narrated the immense suffering that the people of Mpeketoni are enduring.
The majority of Mpeketoni’s residents belong to the Kikuyu tribe.
“Wanaua kabila moja. Kama ni kuhamisha watu, serikali ijue ni nini itafanya. We must get a solution. Rais, please intervene, hata kama ni jeshi. Watu wanalia huko,”
He alleged.
“Our young men are being killed. The widows are being left with no option but to run away, that is what the attackers want. We urge the government agencies and our leaders to intervene,”
Ngunjiri passionately appealed to President William Ruto to deploy the military to combat the terrorist threat.
Government Action

This even comes as defence CS Duale declared 11 areas within Lamu as no go zones in an effort to curb Al shabaab presence which has escalated its attacks in the region over the past three months.

The affected areas, including Marafa Toto, Salama, Juhudi, Tabasamu, Marafa, Mkunumbi, Ukumbi, Salama, Widho, Jirma, Poromoko, and Pandanguo, have been marked as “disturbed areas” due to the increasing frequency of terrorist attacks.
“We have decided that my office together with Interior cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki gazette the areas mentioned as disturbed and reserved only for security operations led by our KDF soldiers, the National police service , National Intelligence service and other security agencies,”
he said.
The attacks have already resulted in the loss of 10 lives and the destruction of numerous homes.
“We look upon the community to share with us important information and intelligence to enable us to destabilize the networks of the enemy and forestall any further attacks from armed militias,”
