Gheto Radio’s breakfast show ”brekko’ co-host Nicholas Cheruiyot, popularly knows as ‘’King Kafu’’ Under his initiative Mfungwa ni binadamu (inmates are human) visited Ruiru Prison on the 18th Nov 2023
King Kafu who previously served a prison sentence aims at giving hope and encouraging inmates.
He has also been keen in community engagements that aim to end stigma ,
‘’Nimekua nikitembea mitaani kuongea na wasee ,unapata mtu akitoka prison watu wengi bado humtreat kama suspect’’
In addition, he urges members of the public to treat ex-prisoners with love and compassion,
‘’Naomba tu mraiya ishow love kwa hawa wasee hutoka prison since ni ma bro na sisters zetu,tukiwatenga unapata wengine wanarudi kwa crime ’’ Added King Kafu
Ruiru Prison Visit
Chilly Saturday morning the celebrated presenter accompanied by colleagues and friena made his way to Ruiru Prison to donate foodstuff and toiletries as well as give the inmates a message of hope
He was in the company ‘Kaploti’ A Kenyan artist who is part of the initiative,
Speaking at the event kaploti encouraged prisoners as he shared his story of serving at the Kamiti Maximum Prison
‘’Tumekuja leo Ruiru prison,kusaidia mandugu zetu kwa sababu mwisho wa siku hawa ni wasee tunapenda
Further to that Kaploti encouraged the inmates assuring them that one day they will be free
‘Nilikua charged na robbery na murder na nilienda home so pia nyinyi hamuwezi kosa Kwenda home ,nilikaa jela miaka tano , yenyu itaitika’’added Kaploti
King Kafu Thanks Supporters
King Kafu has expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported his initiative over the years ,
‘’Na shukuru Ghetto Radio kwa support wamenupea hizo miaka zote na pia mafans wetu kwa kudonate toiletries ‘’
He also recognized Boma Mabati ,Indomie,Havanna Initiative and Donholm Seal Fc President Yusuf who supported the Ruiru Prison Visit .
Through his foundation, the presenter has vowed to visit prisons all over the country.
