Kisumu blogger arrested for allegedly posting a false information alleging that a school head boy had been killed by his fellow students.
Collins Otieno Ochieng was arrested after posting of Facebook that a Ngere High School Headboy had been killed by fellow students after leaking information to the headteacher on the students’ plans to burn down a dormitory.
Police arrested him on Sunday at 10:30am following a joint police operation from Reru and Kombewa police station in Seme.
West Seme location Chief Nicholas Oguma says that the suspect was nabbed at East Ngere sub location in his house after being tracked by DCI officers.
According to the chief, no student of Ngere boys has been killed, and he retariated that there is a blogger who is out to create tension.
“Youths and public in general should desist from sharing or consuming unverified information”, Ogumo warned.
The viral post reportedly caused panic amongst parents and community of Ngere High School.
“Our youths should be advised on the the consequences of misusing social Media platform. What happened yesterday is an embarrassment to the youth fraternity,” Ogongo s youth political aspirant stated.
The suspect was taken to Kombewa police station waiting to be arraigned in court.
