Kisumu Central MP Released On Cash Bail
Kisumu central Member of Parliament Hon. Fred Ouda was on Saturday released on a Sh20,000 cash bail after he was arrested and placed in custody.
The Kisumu Central Member of Parliament was on Friday arrested over alleged assault and political violence at a restaurant in Kisumu County.
According to the police report, the incumbent and the aspirant for Kisumu Central MP Dr. Oron and their supporters met for lunch at Kalong-longo restaurant in Milimani.
A bitter exchange between the two political camps ensued that ended up in a physical fight.
During the melee one Kennedy Nyaori sustained a knife injury on the cheek which he alleges was inflicted by a member of the incumbent MP’s team.
“It was reported by the restaurant manager that war erupted at her place of work and several items destroyed , the items damaged includes; 20 plastic special chairs, 20 normal glasses, cock tail glasses and bottles of Soda and others,” reads the report.
The officers from scene of crime later visited the scene and Ouda was arrested and then taken to Kisumu Central Police Station.
The injured victim was rushed to Kisumu County Hospital treated and discharged.
Members of the public condemned the incident, warning the leaders to come up with better political strategies and not war.
“Politics is not war, it is all about Ideologies, and we are warning those who have sensed defeat to surrender instead of causing war in our constituency. We will not allow that, “said one resident.
