Kisumu County Assembly Closed Due To Covid-19 Surge
Kisumu County Assembly will be closed for two weeks, this is after Covid-19 surge in the county.
While announcing this the move yesterday, Speaker of the Assembly Elisha Oraro urged leaders in the county to take the responsibility of informing the residents about Covid-19.
The County Assembly closure comes a mid growing concerns of the rising cases in the county, which is also considered as the epicenter of the virus.
Kisumu County has been experiencing a surge with 129 cases in the last 24 hours.
According to the report released by the county government of Kisumu, the county over the past weeks has recorded a cumulative tally of 5,739 infections cases.
The trend places Kisumu county on a steady increase in its Covid-19 cases .
This increase was experienced after Madaraka Day celebrations which were held in Kisumu with critics claiming that the event led to the spread of the virus.
The county Covid-19 Multi Agency Committee is seeking to contain the virus by having a fresh crackdown on public service vehicles and boda bodas not complying with Covid -19 rules as well as by closing all county offices until further notice.
