Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Hon. Elisha Oraro has released Assembly staffs for a ten days recess to spearhead voter registration campaigns in their respective wards and villages.
This come days after the county governor prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o gave two weeks off to the all county workers except essential service providers to mobilize voters to register.
According to Oraro amongst their deliberations during their morning consultative meeting with the staff of the Assembly to take stock of their achievements last year.
” We saw the need to ensure all potential voters in our neighborhood are mobilized to register as voters,” he wrote.
“It is in alight of this that today Thursday 27th January, 2022, I have released all staff of the assembly to spearhead on voters mobilization,” said hon. Oraro.
He further explained that those serving under essential services departments will not proceed to the 10 day recess.
He noted that going by the recent figures released by IEBC, its disappointing to note that only a few people are turning up to register with Kisumu county registering 5529 voters out of 130,106 unregistered voters.
The county government has launched a door to door voter mobilization to ensure everyone turn up for the exercise.
