Kisumu County is gearing up for a major conference this year, ahead of next year’s Afri-cities summit.
The summit, named Kisumu Investment Conference will be held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Sports stadium in Mamboleo from 26th to 29th September, 2021.
Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o met Diplomatic community, senior government officials and CEOs of state Agencies for a pre-Kisumu investment conference 2021.
“A big and sincere thanks you to the Diplomatic community, senior government officials and CEOs of state Agencies who attended our pre -Kisumu investment conference 2021 consultative . The conversation have been exciting, fulfilling and encouraging,” he said in a statement.
On Thursday last week, Nyong’o held a meeting with a section of diplomats in Nairobi with the aim of boosting county preparedness ahead of the conference.
The meeting had diplomats drawn from various nations among them South Africa and South Sudan.
In the meeting governor Nyong’o confirmed that meeting with diplomats signals the start of a come-together with various stakeholders as the day to the conference draws near.
Kisumu county government will use the conference to market key sectors of the economy among them tourism, agriculture, industrialization, sports and culture.
The final meeting is scheduled on August 17, ahead of the conference next month.
After the conference, Kisumu will host the Africities summit in April, next year.
It is a Pan-african summit which brings together representatives from African Countries.
The summit was planned for November this year, before it was pushed forward because of effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
