A family in Kisumu is appealing to county government of Kisumu to waive off mortuary bill for their kin who was killed by unknown thugs in Lolwe last week.
Kennedy Nduko a relative of the deceased says that the deceased’s body was found dumped by the road side.
Nduko says that the family was alerted of the boy’s death by his employer whom he had only worked for, for two weeks.
Nduko says that they are having trouble raising the mortuary bill and the postmortem bill.
Caroline Anyoso another family member told Ghetto Radio that the officers from Kondele Police Station demanded that they carry out the postmortem despite them expressing to them their difficult finance status.
“We received a call from Kennedy’s employer that our kin had been killed and goods worth Ksh. 1,000 taken away,” said Anyoso.
“Upon inquires of his body whereabouts, we were informed that officers from Kondele took the body to Jaramogi funeral home. We are appealing for financial assistance to settle the bills before we proceed for burial. The decease had only worked for two weeks before his life was cut short,” said Anyoso.
The family has also expressed concerns over the mortuary attendants’ adamancy to move the body after they identified it.
“We are now worried as we have already identified the body but so far no action has been taken by the morgue attendants, the body is still treated as Unidentified,” Anyoso added.
Police insist that postmortem must be conducted to avert further court cases against the state by the family.
