A woman in Kisumu is nursing serious injuries after she was assaulted and burnt using hot cooking oil by her husband.
Asha Adhiambo’s husband Silvanus allegedly poured hot cooking oil on her that burnt her face and her left arm on Wednesday last week.
Kisumu Human Rights Activist Boniface Ogutu says that Silvanus came home drunk on that fateful date, then picked an argument with her that led to the heinous act.
Ogutu claims that the man even tried to prevent her from seeking medical attention or even reporting to the police.
“When we responded, we found Asha in a pretty bad state and rushed her to the Gender Based Violence Recover Centre at JOOTRH. Later we ensured that the matter was reported at the Mamboleo Police station,” said Ogutu.
“Her condition further worsened yesterday and she was admitted at the hospital,” explained Ogutu.
The suspect was arrested awaiting to be arraigned in court.
The lady is currently receiving her treatment at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
