Kisumu Polytechnic Closed After Students Go On Rampage

The Kisumu National Polytechnic has been closed for 14 days after the students went on strike.

The students went on strike following the institution’s decision to postpone the students’ body elections.

Police officers were forced to lobe teargas to the striking students in a bid to contain the situation.

Some students were forced to scale perimeters walls to scamper for safety.

The reviewed Covid-19 containment measures has seen Kisumu and other 13 lake region Counties affected.

Kisumu county is regarded as one of the hotspots, the institution closed to control the spread of Covid -19.

The institution has requested all students to vacate polytechnic premises with immediate effect.
