Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai has been arrested for assaulting a Kenya Power officer who disconnected his illegal power connection.

He is set to be arraigned at the Kajiado Law Courts for assault.

Meanwhile a number of Kenya Power Union leaders held protests following the assault incident on their colleague.

The union leaders marched across Kitengela with, “We want justice, we want justice! Chants.

The leaders said that as Kenya Power, they will not allow illegal connections of power by individuals despite procedures of electricity connection being so clear.

“We will not allow people to illegally connect power when there are so many people coming to the offices to follow the laid down procedures,” said one leader.

The drama

Kitu East MP Nimrod Mbai is on the spot for assaulting a Kenya Power officer who reportedly disconnected power from his Kitengela house.

A video that has gone viral on the internet shows Mbai slapping the Kenya Power officer in the presence of his colleagues.

The video then shows him reaching for his pistol in its holster at the back of his trouser.

Mbai then threatens the Kenya Power officer of losing his job over the incident.

“Yaani hiyo kasumba ya wazimu ya zamani bado mko nayo. Mnaeza ng’oa kigingi ya mtu, you have to go home guys, you will go home I am telling you. Rudisheni ujinga yenu ya ODM, hamtatuletea hapa, unang’oaje,” said Mbai as he rained slaps on the officer.
