Kenyans on twitter commonly referred to as ‘KOT’ have hit out at the Directorate of Public Prosecutions following the withdrawal of murder charges against the widow, Sarah Cohen and her co-accused in the gruesome murder of her Dutch husband Tob Cohen in September 2019.

The court of the public opinion tore into the Haji led unit accusing them of ‘Selling Justice’ at a price.

Through  disparaging tweets, the agitated online community lashed at the DPP with zero tolerance.

“Wah! So this is how we just forget Tob Cohen?

Money! Money even bought Jesus.

Can we now say, Sarah Wairimu for Governor 2027″ read one tweet.

“Our judicial system has come to the ‘painful’ decision that Tob Cohen tied himself up and jumped into the septic tank then sealed it. Sarah Wairimu has just visited the graveside to pass the news to Mr Cohen. Kinoti” read another tweet.

“Sarah Wairimu didn’t kill Tob Cohen. DPP withdraws murder charges and says it’s like Tob Cohen killed himself, wrapped himself in nylon bags and buried himself inside a septtank.

Justice System in Kenya is hogwash” appeared another tweet.

With the new development, the DPP will now treat the case as an inquest.

“The DPP has directed that this matter be handled via inquest to be filed in the Chief Magistrates court, Milimani Nairobi” states in partly a letter from the DPP.

The inquest seeks to determine the areas that emphasis was not laid on providing an opportunity to the aggrieved parties to tender new evidence in relation to the case before the court.

“This will enable the contradictions that have affected the proceedings of this matter to be heard in detail by all parties. In addition, this will provide an opportunity for parties to present any information that had not been explored substantially before the court “states the letter.

Meanwhile, the family of the late murdered Dutch Businessman have opposed the application for the withdrawal of the case through their lawyers Cliff Ombeta and Danstan Omari.
