A 53-year-old man has been charged in court for allegedly smuggling Ivory.
Joseph Mote Kuri, an employee of the Kwale County government was arraigned in a Kwale court and pleaded not guilty to a charge of smuggling Ivory.
Court heard that the suspect was arrested with 12 pieces of Ivory with an estimated value of sh.3.5 million.
Kwale Magistrate Joe Omido ordered the suspect to be released on a sh.1 million bond.
The suspect was arrested on 17th April in Matuga for allegedly smuggling 35kg of ivory.
The case is set for a hearing on May 26.
