Lavezzi move to China makes him the highest paid player
Ezequiel Lavezzi, who turned down a decent offer from Chelsea in January, has reportedly become the highest paid player in football history by penning a two-year deal with Hebei China Fortune.
The Argentine forward will earn an eye-watering £400k/week, meaning he will take home around £22m in total if he sees out his contract in the Far East.
The contract penned by the striker will see him take home a significant amount should his new side be crowned champions:
Lavezzi is a player who had fallen down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes in the last couple of seasons.
He struggled to dislodge the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani, Lucas Moura and Javier Pastore from the team; the arrival of compatriot Angel Di Maria this summer has made minutes even tougher to come by.
At his best, the Argentinian is a wonderful player to watch, combining flair, incision and plenty of industry off the ball, too.
His new club have been active in the transfer market as of late too, having signed both Gervinho and Stephane Mbia in January.
