Leopards to host Kogalo at Nyayo National Stadium
Mashemeji Derby pitting arch rivals Afc Leopards against their bitter rivals Gor Mahia will now be played on Sunday 7th 2017 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Following a successful meeting between the Kenyan Premier League management and the management of the Nyayo National Stadium, KPL confirmed that the facility owners have agreed to exceptionally allow the AFC Leopards SC-Gor Mahia FC match to be played at the venue on Sunday, 07 May 2017, kick off time 3 PM.
The league managers had announced that the game which had initially been planned for the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru has been rescheduled over security concerns.
AFC Leopards as the home team had said they would not have the capacity to make adequate security arrangements for the match especially with the capacity of the stadium being between 9,000-12,000 and huge crowds expected.
The closure of both Nyayo and Kasarani stadia for renovations have thrown the league managers and most Nairobi teams into disarray with the Thika and Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos being forced to cram up most of the fixtures.
