There was a light moment at the Nairobi County Assembly during the swearing in ceremony of MCAs after one MCA swore to be loyal to her party leader.
Joyce Lugonzo who was nominated by the ODM party caused a buzz at the assembly after the mishap while taking the oath.
“I Joyce Nyamosa Lugonzo do swear in the name of the almighty God that I shall always be loyal to my party leader,” she said to the utter amusement of her colleagues.
Ms. Lugonzo was however forced to take the oath again as admistered by the clerk of the Nairobi County Assembly Edward Gichana.
A number of Nairobi County Assembly MCAs today took oath of office and are set to also elect the speaker and the deputy speaker.
Security has been heightened at the assembly after a section of Kenya Kwanza MCAs vowed to disrupt the election of the speaker after their preferred candidate Bernard Mutura was kicked out for failing to meet the requirements.
