Residents of Likoni are now calling on the government to beef up security in the area.

This comes barely a week after two suspected thieves were gunned down while trying to break into a police officer’s shop.

The deceased who are said to have been armed with machetes and iron bars tried breaking into the officer’s shop located at Brazil area in Likoni.

“Police officers from Shelly Beach police station led by DCI Likoni rushed to the scene and established that one No.89248 PC. Abubakar Muli who works at CCIO office Mombasa and a resident of the said area was in his house when three unknown middle aged men came to his shop while armed with pangas and iron bars, located just adjacent to the main house and started breaking into,” read the police report.

“The officer came out of his house while armed with his scorpion rifle and managed to fatally shoot two of them while the third escaped with bullet wounds,” the report continues to read.
