As Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko faces a hard task ahead of defending himself against allegations of gross misconduct, abuse of office among other offences that formed grounds for his impeachment, a section of MCAs might be doing a dance after suffering several ‘abuses’ after taking over reigns as governor.
Some MCAs who have had differences with Sonko in different occasions have indirectly faced Sonko’s wrath in different ways with some having their businesses shut down, some chucked from lucrative assembly seats as others have had their projects shut down.
- Abdi Guyo – Former Majority Leader
Those who have faced the wrath of Sonko include former Majority Leader Abdi Guyo who apart from being ejected from his lucrative majority leadership seat, has had his four boreholes in Matopeni closed his workers arrested after he allegedly fell out with Sonko.
2. Jeremiah Themendu – Kayole Central
Another casualty is Kayole Central MCA Jeremiah Themendu popularly known as Mofire whom the governor demolished his storey building using county authorities last year.
3. Mugambi Mark Macharia – Umoja I MCA
Mugambi Mark Macharia was also arrested and locked up by Nairobi Liqour board officers , his three bars in Umoja were the shut and his businesses disrupted.
Most of these happened when Speaker Beatrice Elachi came back to Cityhall and Sonko was trying hard to front his men in key position after falling out with Guyo.
Apart from Jubilee MCAs, some ODM MCAs have also faced Sonko’s wrath like Minority Whip Peter Imwatok who almost had his bursary fund recalled after Sonko accused him of issuing the bursaries to questionable institutions.
4. Peter Imwatok – Makongeni MCA (Majority Whip)
Imwatok is the MCA who has since tabled the impeachment motion against Sonko.
MCAs have seven days to debate and vote for the impeachment motion.
