Amnesty international,International Justice Mission(IJM),Missing voices and Police Reform Working groups have asked the Inspector General  Japheth Koome to stop deploying  plain clothed police officers to quell protests  .

While addressing the journalists the groups have demanded for the arrest of the police officers who allegedly shot dead Rex Kanyike saying that the youths had all the rights to demonstrate under the constitution.

Similarly they have asked the police to arrest and prosecute the police officer who shot the 29 year old Rex.

“In what was a remarkable day and with the exception of stress but under the cover of darkness Rex was killed,We are aggrieved by the killing of Rex,”said Irungu

According to Irungu they are still gathering information on the protest .
“We have seen documented arrests and we are still gathering information…we are aware of 80 cases in Eldoret and Nairobi ranges between 120-140,”he noted.

Meanwhile IJM director Benson Shamala says there’s need for swift prosecution and determination of cases.

“we’ve had delayed justices and survivors talking about how their cases have been in court for years …Justice should be served ….we continue to see delays.,he said
