The law society of kenya has warned against intimidation of its members by government agencies.

Speaking during the commencement of the purple ribbon campaign,the legal body said that it will not tire in the quest for justice for its members and of the general public.

The LSK Nairobi branch chair Helene Namisi urged advocates to stand in solidarity and discharge their duties without fear.

“We are one body and we are together in condemning the harassment that may be poise on our members in the legal speace while discharging their duties,” Namisi said.

She assured advocates that the legal body will ensure a free,safe and fair working environment to it registered member

According to Namisi, LSK has in the recent past lost six members under unclear circumstances,among the lawyer Willy Kimani who was brutally murdered alongside his client and taxi driver and body dumped in Mavoko.

“We have lost our members under unclear circumstances and there families left in abject poverty, he worst case is the murder of lawyer Willie Kimani, his client and a taxi driver, we hope his family finds peace.”

International Justice Mission president in Africa and Europe Andrew Griffins lauded the initiative pledging to collaborate with LSK in bringing public justice.

” The mater of justice for lawyers must be handled with seriousness it deserves because the injustice to the advocates has far reaching effects thus require international collaboration,” IJM president Griffins said.
