A section of Kibra residents have now opposed the cremation plan for the fallen Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth saying they will do what they can to stop the same.
According to the residents, the cremation is against Luo culture and customs and doing so is a taboo because at some moment Okoth’s siblings would seek God’s guidance even after his death.
Nick Odhiambo says the residents were also not consulted on whether to have the MP buried or cremated.
”As Kibra youths we shall not allow this to happen,Okoth is a Luo and Luo culture states clearly that body of the dead must be buried,”he said.
They further slammed Okoth’s wife for vouching for the cremation slogan urging her to be bonded by Luo culture and traditions.
Other unconfirmed reports also indicates that Okoth’s mother has threatened not to attend the cremation family saying the wife surpassed her opinion.
The late MP’s mother snubbed Okoth’s family briefing with ODM leader Raila Odinga where the cremation plan was announced officially.
