“She is that enigmatic. I was not surprised. And I don’t mind being associated with her in any capacity. She came up to me and just gave me the realest hug,” said Lupita.
The Oscar winning actress also mentioned that she might still be experiencing a culture shock of sorts being in Hollywood and that she still feels green on some practices.
“This world is still extremely new to me and unbelievable. Just because you’re a close friend of hers doesn’t mean you get to know everything about her,” said Nyong’o.
Janelle Monae has been under criticism of late for showing up in topless outfits and on some occasions flashing her bare torso. Naturally, this sparked mixed reactions online.
Some fans speculate that the recent controversy is just to garner enough clout to fuel the sale of Janelle Monáe’s new album, “The Age of Pleasure,” which drops on the 9th of June.
