Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s election upheld


The Machakos High Court on Friday dismissed an election petition challenging Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s win in the August 8 election citing lack of merit.

In his ruling, High Court Judge Aggrey Muchelule observed that the election was conducted in accordance with the law.


He said that the complainant did not have sufficient evidence that there was campaign conducted during the Election Day, neither was there evidence of intimidation of voters.

Supporters cheered inside and outside court after an election petition against Governor Alfred Mutua were dismissed.

Machakos Governor however thanked those who stood by him during the court ruling.

Wavinya Ndeti former Kathiani Member of Parliament who contested as a governor, had field the petition, alleging irregularities.

The court has ordered her to pay 10 million costs of the case.
