The Kenya National Union of Teachers has eulogized the former education cabinet secretary George Magoha as a person who championed major reforms in the education sector.

In an interview with Ghetto Radio News  Kenya National Union of Teachers Deputy Secretary General Hesbon Otieno says the  “buffalo” as referred by many ensured that the Competency Based Curriculum  succeed  despite opposition from different stakeholders.

He has called on the government to continue implementing the policies made during his tenure as education cabinet secretary.

“We want to give our condolence to the family over the death of George Magoha his death really shocked the union since it was unexpected he will in the history of the nation as one CS who really championed and advocated for Competency Based Curriculum implementation even when the tithes were very strong in the implementation of the same when he came into the ministry I remember he said that you cannot return back a child who has been born into the mother’s womb even if the child is abnormal,” Otieno said.

He also termed Magoha as steadfast and dedicated public who gave it all when on duty.

Meanwhile burial of Prof. Richard Alex Nyabera Magoha is set to continue as planned this Saturday, despite news of a double tragedy hitting the family.

“The cortege will leave Agha Khan Funeral Home Kisumu, on Saturday 28th January for a memorial requiem mass at Township Primary School Yala at 10:00 am followed by intermittent at his Umiru home in Yala, Gem, Sub-County,” his obituary reads in part.
