Ghetto Radio’s Julius Owino popularly known as Majimaji has offered to pay school fees for a needy student to get him back to school.
Melix Otieno had dropped out of school in form two at Bonde Secondary in Seme Sub County due to lack of school fees.
To make ends meet, he had joined his cousin who works as a casual laborer in Nairobi.

On some occasions he would join his cousin in working at construction sites which he admitted has not been easy. Because of his age, he would go without pay and at times even food.

Melix’s plight was highlighted on Facebook by a user known as Patrick Njeru who witnessed his mistreatment while tilling farms in Juja. He could end up with no pay for work done.

These challenges hit the young man prompting him to seek help to go back to school.

With a dream of becoming a mechanical engineer, Melix believed that only education will help him actualize his dream.

And truly, lady luck struck through Majimaji who learnt of his ordeal.

Majimaji not only bought him the necessary stationaries, new uniforms but also paid for his school fees.

According to Majimaji, Melix was now part of his family and he would work towards his success.

Humble Background

Melix comes from a poor background with the father relying on burning charcoal for a living.

The parents separated and has had to depend largely on his grandmother.

His elder brother is in university majoring in Education while his other three siblings’ fate and whereabouts is unknown.

They left with the mother at a tender age.
