A Nanyuki Court has allowed the prosecution to detain Major Peter Mugure and another suspect who are linked to the murder of a woman and her two children for 21 days.
Chief Magistrate Lucy Mutai said the 21 days will help the police complete their investigations.
A postmortem exercise is also expected to be done on the bodies by the government pathologist on Tuesday.
The prosecution had also requested the court to give them time to analyse the DNA samples collected from the bod.
This they will do even as they continue to hunt down more suspects involved in the killings.
“We believe that the suspects could be Mugure’s juniors and releasing him will interfere with the investigations,” said Central region’s Senior Deputy Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Peter Mailanyi.
Joyce Syombua’s body and those of her two children were discovered at a shallow grave in Nanyuki after the gruesome killing.
