Makongeni Member of County Assembly Peter Jateso Imwatok has distanced himself from recent allegations that he milked county millions of shillings that were recently disbursed by Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
Imwatok says the bursaries were given to deserving members of his ward and that he never defrauded the county in anyway using the same.
‘‘It’s the job of county government to give out bursaries. I have nothing to do with this matter and the governor is trying to divert the attention of Nairobians who are still asking why his government deposited 357 shillings bursary funds to a Maryland account in Australia,’’ he added.
In his allegations Sonko links the MCA with different institutions that received huge amount of the bursary funds including Kobudho educational centre.
Imwatok is also heading to court over another claims from the governor that he murdered a lawyer whose body was lying at Umash Funeral Home.
According to Imwatok his lawyers through Ashioya Mogire & Nkatha Advocates have written to the governor and Umash over the same.
‘‘The governor must be ready to face defamation charges and i will not take the matter lightly with him.’’ Imwatok stated.
Last week Minority leader Elias Otieno accused governor Sonko of what he terms as fear of criticism and attack on opposition MCAs in the assembly.
He says the governor has been on the nake of any MCA who critices his style of admnistration with latest casualties being Kitusuru MCA Alvin Pala Pala and Minory chief whip Peter Imwatok.
