Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has challenged president Uhuru Kenyatta to whip leaders and people from his region to support the BBI.
Malala says that unlike Uhuru, his counterpart in the hand shake Raila Odinga has managed to bring everyone on board including Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula and ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi.
“I want to challenge my president here today, Raila has ensured that all his people are in the handshake. But President, you have people who are undermining you. I am suggesting to you that you take your rungu and whip them to support the BBI,” said Malala.
Speaking at the burial of Mudavadi’s mother Hannah Mudavadi, Malala also noted that most people who are against the BBI are people who come from the Central Kenya region.
“I expected Irungu Kang’ata to ask for forgiveness over the letter he wrote to the president the other day. Please respect the president,” he said.
Malala also urged Uhuru and Raila to groom young leaders who will take over the mantle from them after they retire.
“You have one challenge as friends, the challenge is, in whose hands will you leave Kenya? There is no need of leaving Kenya in the hands of cartels and con men,” said Malala.
