Police have arrested a 27 year old man in Nairobi’s Kiamaiko Slums for allegedly eloping with a 14 year old girl.
The man reportedly eloped with the class seven girl and took her to Moyale.
The minor’s father says that he reported his daughter as a missing person on Sunday.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio News the father says that after reporting to the police, they launched a man huint for the man who eloped with her.
“My daughter went missing on Sunday. We filed a report at the Huruma Police Station after which the police launched a search. During the search one man told us that my daughter had been taken to Moyale by another man,” narrates the father.
“We then moved swiftly arrested the man and brought our daughter back home,” he states.
The man was immediately arrested and taken to the Huruma Police Station.
He is waiting arraignment in court.
The girl has been taken for medical examination at the MSF Clinic in Mathare.
Cases of early marriages are reportedly very high in Kiamaiko slums.
This is majorly catalysed by the retrogressive cultures being practiced by the Boranas and the Burjis in the area.
