A man who used violence to steal a businessman’s 20 pieces of bread, cash and some ATM has been charged in court.

Omar Mustafa Salim is accused of stealing the said items from collins Makana who was hawking breads near the Eagle Nursing Home in Kibera Makina area within Nairobi County.

He denied the said charges of robbery with violence which the court heard that he committed on January 24,2024.

In court the prosecution did not object his release on bond but directed that he be detained until February 2 for further direction.

The incident happened amid  the report by Infotrak poll that majority of Kenyans are either in severe financial distress or struggling to make ends meet.

According to the latest survey on the cost of living released today which also revealed that 85 percent of Kenyans believe there is a need for the government to urgently address the issue of high cost of living
