A 30 year old man has committed suicide after an alleged prolonged domestic difference with his wife in Mathare Mabatini.
The deceased only identified as Kevo hanged himself on Monday at around 8 pm inside his house.
According to his neighbour Gideon Otanga Kevo who was allegedly drunk, fought with his wife over a remote control.
“They started quarreling over the remote control. This is after he refused to give it out to the wife… He was very drunk at the same time…he then threatened the wife that he could stab her …it was at this moment that we came in to calm them down,” Otanga narrated.
“After calm was restored, the matter seemingly escalated in our absence and disagreed again ….the wife threatened to leave him and we suspect that this is what irritated him most because the woman was the one paying all the bills including house rent and food,” Otanga added.
Last week another man committed suicide under mysterious circumstances in Huruma Kasanover.
The unidentified man jumped off the fifth floor of a building and died on the spot.
Otanga has now called on younger couples to look ways of solving their domestic issues but not through suicide and violence.
“This is the second case in this area, we are asking our youths to mature up and seek better avenues of resolving marital issues,” he stated.
The body was taken to the City Mortuary by Huruma Police.
