A man has been jailed for 10 years after he pleaded guilty to hacking another man who owed him Ksh. 30 in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County.
Nicholas Mwiti had been charged been charged with manslaughter after killing Geoffrey Muriungi who allegedly took fish worth Ksh. 30 and refused to pay for it.
Mwiti reportedly then went for a panga that he used to hack Muriungi who then died.

The deceased’s family has expressed dissatisfaction with the court ruling, which they said was too lenient.
Muriungi’s mother Margret Kaindu says she will be seeking compensation for his late son, who left behind young kids who are currently under her custody.
