DCI Detectives on Wednesday arrested a man who allegedly killed his wife then tried to fake that she had committed suicide.
Martin Mugendi allegedly tied his wife to a mango tree at a sitting position in a bid to throw off investigators that it was indeed suicide.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the man allegedly assaulted his 34 year old wife immediately after dinner before killing her.
“Preliminary investigation by detectives established that the deceased had had supper with her husband (the suspect) around 9pm last night, moments before he turned against her with blows and kicks,” said the DCI.
According to the police, Mugendi took their daughter the following morning to a neighbour’s house then headed to work.
“Search for the deceased by her neighbours commenced when by afternoon she had not been spotted anywhere within the neighborhood, with the husband saying nothing about her whereabouts,” said the police.
The body of the deceased is currently in the morgue awaiting postmortem.
The suspect is in police custody.
