Man nursing injuries in hospital after he was shot by police officers
A middle aged man is currently nursing gunshot wounds at the Kenyatta National Hospital after he was shot in the arm by police officers at the Pangani shopping center for defying curfew order.
The 40 year old man who is a shoe shiner in Pangani was reportedly shot by police officers who later left in a probox.
Eye witness Kamau Njoroge states that the man suffered injuries in the arm and is currently admitted at KNH.
“They shot him on his left ram and from the look of things, those police officers were aiming for his heart, they wanted to kill him,” said Njoroge.
Njoroge says that the said officers later on Monday harassed them in a bid to silence them.
“So they came here on Monday and started harassing us. They demolished our business premises with the sole aim of keeping us silent,” he said.
He claims that the incident has reigned fear on the residents with many fearing for their lives.
“This incident has instilled fear in many people here, with many night guards refusing to work for us because they fear that they might be the next victims,” he stated.
The Independent Policing and Oversight Authority has launched several investigations of cases of extrajudicial killings meted by the police during the coronavirus pandemic.
