A Nairobi resident has written a petition to the Senate seeking the government to deriminalise Marijuana.

Gwada Ogot a resident of Kaloleni wants the government to legalise marijuana saying it has many industrial benefits as well medicinal value.

The petition which was sent to Senate on the 3rd of January states that the plant can be used in making quality textile material, cosmetics and also treat medical conditions like Alzheimer.

Dr Chitayi Murabula has however dismissed claims by Ogot, saying his claims are yet to be proved scientifically.

Chitayi warns that Marijuana has serious side effects and can damage the brains of its consumers.
