A CORD supporter who was roughed up by police during CORD anti-IEBC protests on Monday has died.
The middle-aged man, identified as Ben Ngari, succumbed to his injuries early Tuesday, hours after he was thoroughly beaten by police for taking part in the protests.
The Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) has stated that it will take action against the police officer who assaulted the supporter.
Meanwhile 16 young men arrested during the protests have been charged in a city court with partcipating in an illegal protest, being armed in public and breaching public peace.
They have pleaded guilty to participating in an illegal protest but have denied all other charges even as lawyers Harun Ndubi and Anthony Oluoch are moving to court to have there change their plea.
