Maranda High School in Bondo, Siaya County was on Wednesday following student unrest over mismanagement at the institution.

Students specifically protested against the school’s poor diet and poor school timetable that include dawn preps.

The students had began chanting slogans against the Principal, Mr. Edwin Namachanja, before police were called into the school.

Following the strike notice, some 20 Form Three students were reportedly issued with suspension letters on Wednesday morning.

The County Director of Education declined to comment on the matter and only told journalists that they were doing investigations into that matter.
