With Ksh.1 million at stake as the cash prize for the most outstanding team, it is now to the business lane in the race towards bagging the SportPesa Super 8 Premier League crown as the fiercely contested competition enters the final homestretch this coming weekend.

Participating clubs are expected to shift gears when the ‘Wakilisha Mtaa Yako’ campaign marks its 27th round with seven entertaining matches scheduled to be played between Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 Augusts across different venues within Nairobi County.

As matter stand as on now, the competition is wide open as only a slender four points separate the top three contenders on the 16-team chart with Jericho All Stars from the East conference commanding the pack with 53 points, two shy of defending champions and West siders TUK who are second. Kayole Asubuhi sits pretty at 3rd place with 49 points but have a game at hand.



Three matches will kick-off on Saturday with the main highlight being on leaders Jericho All Stars who will be crossing swords with MASA in an East conference clash that is poised to spark fireworks at Camp Toyoyo grounds from 3PM.

After a comfortable 4-0 victory over rusty Kawangware United in their last game, confidence is high within Jericho who will be keen to break away from champions TUK who are closing in on them at the summit.

Jericho who are led by Thomas Okongo will head into the match as pre-match favourites but should expect opposition from Hassan Andale’s MASA who are placed 6th with 41 points. MASA will be seeking to overturn their 0-2 first leg defeat at the hands of Jericho.


In the second match of the day, Shauri Moyo Blue Stars will be seeking to reap maximum points when they take on basement side Shamao Babes at the City Stadium.Blue Stars who are placed fourth with 46 points will be looking to follow up their first leg 4-1 win over the minnows who languishing at the tail end of the standings with 12 points.

A win will be a boost for the Shauri Moyo outfit who are aiming a top three finish in the competition while Shamako will need more than a miracle to lift them from the relegation zone in the West conference.


Metro Sports will be seeking for a double against Melta Kabiria when the two sides clash at Nyayo Stadium.

Metro who are placed 7th on the log with 41 points beat Melta 2-0 in the reverse fixture and will be aiming to repeat the same when they face the West conference side who sit a point below them.



At Kabete grounds, defending champions TUK will be seeking to dethrone leaders Jericho from the top spot with a possible win over hosts Kabete United.

TUK will be gunning for a win while hoping Jericho drop points for them to claim the top spot, a position that has eluded them the whole season and this will be a perfect opportunity for them to strike.

On the other hand, Kabete who sit 11th with 32 points will need to sermon all their strength in order down the university students for a chance to move into the top ten fray.


At Nakeel grounds, Ajax will renew old rivalry with West conference competitors and neighbours Diguna FC in a Rongai Derby.

Fifth placed Ajax are aiming to go up on the chart where they have notched 42 points but will have to first go past Diguna who sit four places below with 36 points.


Wounded Kawangware United will be seeking to put behind their 0-4 humiliation by Jericho All Stars last weekend when they take on hosts Kiamaiko City at Huruma grounds.

Kawangware sit 10th on the log with 33 points and will be gunning for the maximum points when they take on Kiamaiko City who are facing relegation in the West conference where they sit at 13th with 30 points.


At the same time, relegation bound Baba Dogo United will be at home against Kiambiu Youth at Baba Dogo grounds.

Kiambiu who are the losing finalist in last year’s Super 8 edition, are not where they envisioned to be when the league commenced in February. They are sitting 12th with 31 points and will be out for more points when they tackle fellow strugglers Baba Dogo United who are placed 14th with 20 points.
