A local authority in Maseno ,Kisumu county has issued a stern warning to drug peddlers in Nyawita market in Maseno area saying that they risk getting arrested.
This follows an outcry from the public that there is a person known as “Ras”, former student, selling bhang to Maseno University students.
Nyawita is reported to be the hotspot of insecurity due to high consumption and availability of bhang among the students.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio, West Karateng Chief ,Martin Oyindo says that drug peddling in the area has made the area is risky from 8pm.
“I got a complaint from the community that there is a former Maseno student known as Ras, who purports to be keeping dogs is selling bhang to students. I did my investigation and further established that he also keeps individuals whose characters are questionable,” said Oyindo.
“We later arrested him but was later released under unknown circumstances. We won’t tire, I must ensure that all drug peddlers get arrested,” he added.
Oyindo also stated that due to high consumption of bhang around Nyawita, a section of the students has been attacked and their property taken away.
“Recently a student was attacked and he was badly assaulted,” said Oyindo.
He says this new wave is a threat to the society and he wil do the necessary to restore back the security.
