Matatu operators have now applauded the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission police for making sure that corrupt officers are dealt with according to the law.

According to Karakacha monthly engagement shall continue until corruption is completely wiped out in our roads.

Latest incident involved  four traffic officers who were allegedly collecting bribes at a roadblock along the Thika – Garissa Highway.

The Commission carried out an operation that led to the arrest of the four near Matuu town.

Krakacha  says Matatu business is huge and need government protection and therefore  need to thrush cartels milking operators.

“We are happy and we can see the fruits there so many traffic officers being arrested on the road especially by EACC and we shall continue engaging various stakeholders to ensure we Protect Matatu business.” He said

He further asked the operators not to collude with officers saying such encourages corruption.

“We are asking our operators not give this officers money  because that’s is breeding that culture of corruption.” He warned the operators.

Road Blocks

Meanwhile Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure   Kindiki has ordered the removal of police road blocks as from 1 st November 2023.

The cs argues that the road blocks are old ways of operation and no longer effective.

The roadblocks will be replaced by patrol security officers along the highways and major corridors.

Kindiki said the elimination of roadblocks is a presidential directive.

“Roadblocks are an old form of security in various nations. Roadblocks should be mounted on the request of the security operators to achieve a specific agenda and once it has served its purpose it’s dismounted,” he said.
