The issue of match fixing has resurfaced once again after an alleged perpetrator was caught trying to lure a player into the vice.

In a dramatic online video that has gone viral a match fixer was nabbed trying to bribe a Vihiga Bullets player to compromise their upcoming National Super League match.

In the video Vihiga Coach George Owoko is seen confronting Hamisi Waswa who he said was trying to convince Gor Mahia loanee Gilbert Oloo to fix their NSL match against Kisumu All Stars.

Match fixing has been a problem in the league where unscrupulous individuals have been taken advantage of the low and delayed pay to compromise players and team officials into agreeing to their scheme in exchange for a quick buck.

The biggest culprits were nabbed by Kenya Premier League side Nairobi City Stars who laid an ambush that led to the arrest of foreign individuals who were trying to fix their top flight match.

The three included a Russian Akhiad Kubiev, Ugandan Bernard Navendi and Kenyan Martin Munga Mutua were caught trying to fix FKF match against Sofapaka.

The players were to pocket a sum of Ksh 1.8 million if the deal went through.
