Kenya's No 1 GhettoRadio

mathareResidents of Mathare have raised concerns over the rising cases of drug abuse that has left many youth either dead, unproductive or mentally ill. The residents claim that lack of employement is the main driving force as many youth have resorted to crime therefore needing drugs to distort any fear or conscious during these criminal acts.

In exclusive interviews with Ghetto Radio News some of the youth from this area expressed their willingness to change if they are provided with better alternatives.

The residents however claim that the drug peddlers are well known but the police have slacked in their fight against drug use.

One of the leaders said the government should stop demonizing chang’aa sale and instead create a hygenic environment and provide licences to the legit brewers who meet the traditional standards of making this brew. He said this was a potential opportunity for job creation.
