Mathare Women FC has defended its decision to permanently ban one of their fans “Ronaldo” over his femicide remarks.

The fan was banned by the club from attending any of their matches due to his insensitive comments regarding femicide.

In A video circulating online, Ronaldo, alongside other men were seen making insensitive comments about women warning they too would kill their girlfriends if they disrespected them.

This is Bunge la Mwananchi bana. Let me tell you…Men have suffered because of these women. Imetuguza ata sisi we have daughters…” the other guy said, to which Ronaldo responded saying; “We are going to kill you! I cannot take you to pizza, you eat my money. You women are going to die. Ati unataka pesa ya mwanaume? Come on! Mtakufa sana…Na bado!”He said.

The Mathare Women FC, upon learning of the video, swiftly denounced such behavior, stating that they will not tolerate individuals who promote violence, whether directed at women or any human being.

Club takes action

“BANNED. After video footage emerged yesterday of one of our fans, Ronaldo, insulting and giving irresponsible remarks that promote violence against women, we have decided as a team to permanently ban him from attending our matches, coming to our premises or associating with our team in any manner,” Part of the statement read.

“Mathare United Women Team will not tolerate characters like him, who promote violence not only against women but against any human being,”

The video caused public outrage, with many netizens urging law enforcement to take action against Ronaldo.

This even comes as incidents of femicide cases in the country increases.

On Saturday, feminists, activists, and human rights advocates organized nationwide demonstrations to protest against the rising femicide rates.

They called on the government to take concrete measures to address the issue and emphasized the importance of fostering respect towards women.
