A middle aged woman from Mathare is staring at an unspecified jail term after she pleaded guilty to inflicting gruesome bodily harm on a minor.
Rahma Musa Gafwa a resident of Mlango kubwa area was last week arraigned before Milimani Children’s court and convicted in her own plea for an offence of burning a seven year old child with a hot knife.
A report attached to the court documents indicated that minor sustained serious injuries including private parts.
“On diverse days between January 2023 and 14th May 2023 at Mlango Kubwa in Mathare Subcounty within Nairobi, you willingly subjected a child aged seven years to cruelty punishment by burning her with hot knife,” reads the statement.

No request for pardon
According to the prosecution document seen by Ghetto Radio, Rahma was reported to the police station after she subjected a female child whose identity has been kept anonymous for spending time in neighbour’s house.
Ghetto Radio could not independently verify what exactly prompted the agitated Rahma to administer cruel punishment on the minor.
In what appeared as a shocker to in the court room, the composed Rahma did not mitigate for a lenient sentence or plead with the trial magistrate to pardon her.
The magistrate directed the children protection officer to avail victim’s impact assessment report be sentencing the convict.
