Matiang’i Warns Against Transferring Students Involved In Arson
The government has now stopped the transfer of students from schools closed over riots in a bid to stop the spate of arson attacks that have hit secondary schools in recent days.
Speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum development (KICD) today, Matiang’i said student transfers must be approved by sub-county directors of education
Education cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi also says parents will meet the cost of repairing property of public schools damaged by students.
He says the government will not repair structures burned by students.
About 20 schools in Nyanza have lost property worth millions of shillings to fires in the past 6 months with the recent incidence taking place in Saturday night at Itiero boys high school in Kisii where 7 domitories were burned after students were blocked from watching the ongoing Euro 2016 match.
