Rally Driver Maxine Wahome is likely to face murder charges, this is after the DCI shifted investigations from grievous harm to murder after the death of Rally Driver Asad Khan.
The prosecution told senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi that the police have closed the file that was investigating grievous harm and is now establishing the people behind the murder of the former driver.
“The shift in the circumstances are on the matter, the investigating officer is no longer investigating the assault since the victim is dead,” said state prosecutor James Gachoka.
The court however stated that Ms. Wahome will keep reporting to the DCI Kilimani every Thursday and record further statement and also cooperate with the investigating officer until the matter comes for mention on 30th January to confirm the progress of investigations.
Asad’s family lawyer Cliff Ombeta asked the trial magistrate that the family of the late Khan be allowed to participate in the investigations to assist in pointing out key areas that will help the victim nab the persons who killed the deceased.
“The victim’s family are not spectators in the matter they are active participants who must be involved amicably to get the gist of what transpired following the death of Asad,” Ombeta stated.
The legendary rally driver Asad Khan succumbed on 18th December 2022 at city hospital after he was allegedly assaulted by his girlfriend Maxine Wahome.
