The management of Mbagathi hospital has denied allegations the masks being recycled by hawkers are part of the hospital’s waste.

The hospital’s board chair, Dr George Osewe, has dismissed the claims, saying the facility burns all its waste.

“We as the hospital management and board members wish to categorically state that all used masks of the hospital wastes are incinerated in the hospital incinerator,” said Dr Osewe

This comes after viral social media posts showing people washing masks to be sold to unsuspecting Kenyans.

Several of the posts alleged that the said masks are from Mbagathi Hospital.

Dr. Osewe now says an investigation has been launched into the matter.

“We as the hospital management and board members wish to categorically state that all used masks of the hospital wastes are incinerated in the hospital incinerator,” he added
