Mbeere Residents Team Up To Construct Dilapidated Road
Community members at Kathera in Mbeere North in Embu County have teamed up to construct a road that has paralyzed transport for years now.
The 12 KM road that connects Kanyuambora and Ovarire is the only road that residents depend on for transport.
After the heavy rains the road developed trenches that rendered the road impassible prompting the residents to team up to construct it.
The residents complain that being the only road the matatus cannot access the road, bodaboda riders charge KSHS 400 to cover the distance which the residents say is the same amount they pay from Kanyuambora to Nairobi a distance of 138km.
With the impassible road residents say that life has become unbearable since accessing other areas has become a challenge.
“Those in need of urgent medical attention go through a harrowing experience before getting to hospital. Small entrepreneurs find it hard to access the market on time,” said one resident.
The bodaboda riders claim that they spend so much money on motorbike repairs due to the dilapidated roads.
