Sheng masters Mbogi Genje have been nominated for the 2020 Pan African Kisima Music and Film Awards.

The group has been nominated under the Male artists/ Group of the year alongside Sauti Sol, Diamond Platnumz, Meddy, StoneBuoy among others.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio, Mbogi Genje’s Militan said they received the news with a lot of excitement.

“We saw the post and got very excited because this is part of the dream we have been waiting for. The thought of even being nominated alongside Sauti Sol and Diamond Platnumz show that our music is making history. We aim to even get a nomination for the BET awards in the near future.” He said

This year, Africa’s regional representation from the East to the West, the North to the South and central Africa has been represented within the judging process.

Big names from the region have fused with upcoming artists to make up a fine blend of Pan-African talent in this year’s Awards “We are elated to see the big thread of names and quite inspired to see new upcoming artists from Across Africa taking up center-stage and claiming critical space. This is exactly the spirit of the awards which we needed to see”, Said Dr. Fred Simiyu, the Chairman of the Kisima Music & Film awards.

In this new Pan-Africa infusion, every part of the continent in their language diversity is represented.

The release of the list of Nominees paves way for the final stage of the Awards process that opens up to the public voting.

The public voting period has already kicked off and will be ending on the 12th of December when the votes are tallied and the final winners announced on the 13th.

The Awards Ceremony for the Kisima Music & Film awards will be held at the Sarit Center in Nairobi on the 13th of December.
